Pet Acupuncture and Pain Management

Acupuncture relaxes muscles throughout the body, which reduces pain both locally and generally. By encouraging the creation of naturally occurring pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory molecules, acupuncture may help treat these pets with less pain medications.

Pet Acupuncture and Pain Management

Just like humans, dogs and cats can be treated with acupuncture and gain from it. The same basic idea underlies veterinary acupuncture: stimulating particular body spots to have a therapeutic impact.
At Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital, we have a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.

Pet Acupuncture and Pain Management

We are passionate about pain management in our dogs and cats. Multiple modalities exist to help alleviate discomfort and provide an improved quality of life.

  • Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing techniques in the world, and we are proud to offer this traditional Chinese medicine technique as a complement to our medical care. By stimulating specific points on the body, usually by the insertion of fine needles, acupuncture can promote blood flow, relieve pain, speed healing and help the body come back into balance. Acupuncture presents a wonderful alternative for animals who are experiencing pain. We have a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist on staff who performs this service with great results for many patients.
  • Class 4 Laser Therapy can relief pain and help with tissue regeneration. This can be beneficial for chronic conditions like arthritis or back pain, among others. It has also been helpful with acute pain and wound healing!
  • Injections to bind excess nerve growth factor are available that help alleviate pain and improve the condition of arthritis are available. This includes Solensia (for cats) and the new Librela (for dogs)!
  • Supplements and discussions for what would best help your pet include but are not limited to Adequan, Welactin, Diets like Purina JM, Dasuquin Advanced, etc.
  • Detailed plans to improve a pet’s diet to assist in weight loss.
